Recently married Llia Apostolou and Phil Gibson are putting all other meet-cutes to shame with their adorable digital-age introduction: They met on Twitter when Apostolou put out a call for, you guessed it, a wedding date.
Three years ago, Apostolou found herself looking for a last-minute plus-one to her sister's nuptials. "Are you a man? Can I borrow you for a wedding next weekend? Bonus points if you can source a baby that I can pretend is mine too," she tweeted in July 2014. Gibson noticed Apostolou's tweet and jumped at the chance. "I can do this, I've got a suit and everything!" he replied. It's unclear if the two had interacted on Twitter before this conversation, or if Gibson had just been a Twitter follower, but either way, it all worked out. Flirty banter ensued, and, well, you should really just read their Twitter convo in full to get the full goose-bump effect.
Fast forward exactly three years minus one day, and Apostolou and Gibson actually did get married — turning Apostolou's prophetic tweet into a reality. "Almost exactly three years later, I can say ... Reader, I married him," Apostolou tweeted on Wednesday. She also took a moment to clarify a few things. Turns out, she and Gibson did not wind up going to her sister's wedding together, but they did meet up IRL that same week. "But still — I jokingly wished to marry him, having not even met him, and it happened. Still blows my mind," she added.
Both newlyweds happily shared the news — on the very platform where they first met, of course — that their wedding went off without a hitch. Congrats, Llia and Phil!
