The countdown may be on for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's royal wedding (T-minus 44 days, in case you were wondering), but there's another equally important royal-related event coming into our lives even sooner than May 19: the release of Lifetime's Harry and Meghan: A Royal Romance. The cable channel just released its first full-length trailer for the flick—set to air on May 13—and, spoiler alert, it is everything. Lifetime put out a teaser last month, but the new extended version has so, so much more.
The new clip features Parisa Fitz-Henley and Murray Fraser, who play Meghan and Harry, respectively, living out some of the most important occasions in the couple's history, including the first time they met (which happened in real life on a blind date at London's exclusive Soho House club) and one of their many trips to Botswana. The on-screen versions of Will and Kate, Burgess Abernethy and Laura Mitchell (who played the elder royal couple in their own Lifetime original film), also show up in the trailer, with Kate dropping some hard truths on her younger brother-in-law throughout.
"Peter Pan can't stay in Neverland forever...marriage isn't so bad," "Kate" tells "Harry" amid footage of him from his hard-partying days (#TBT). Then, she raises some of the larger concerns about Meghan Markle's introduction into the royal family, asking, "She's American, she's divorced...are you ready for this?"
Obviously, both the movie and real-life versions of Harry are, in fact, ready for it. "I don't need my life to be this perfect royal picture. I just need you," Harry's character says to his bride-to-be in the teaser. How close all of this actually is to what happened IRL is anyone's best guess, but it definitely makes for some pretty amazing TV.
