Lindsay Linton and Dane Buk are both originally from Wyoming, but their paths didn’t cross until Lindsay moved back to Jackson from New York City in April 2013. Mutual friends wanted to set the two up, but Lindsay was preoccupied with work and never followed up. A few months later, both she and Dane were out with friends and unexpectedly bumped into each other. “There was a brief moment of awkwardness from the unsuccessful set-up attempt, but once we started talking, we had a great connection,” Lindsay remembers.
After a romantic dinner to celebrate their two-year anniversary, Dane and Lindsay took a walk with their dog, Jack. Dane stopped, asked Jack to sit, and pulled out his phone, which had a sketch of the ring he had been working with a designer to create for Lindsay. “It was so sweet and special to be included in the process. When we returned to Jackson, we picked out the stone together and made it official,” she says.
For their September 10, 2016, wedding celebration, the couple invited 180 guests to a ceremony in Lindsay’s parents' backyard and a reception at the 3 Creek Ranch Golf Club, both in Jackson. With help from planner Camille Thomas of Parker Thomas Events and florist Sami Volcansek of Magnolia Ranch, the pair put together a romantic affair to remember, with a blush, rose gold, and copper color scheme. Lindsay’s blush Monique Lhuillier ball gown was the original inspiration for the day's color theme. “A blush ball gown would have never been on my radar," she says, "bsut it was the one dress I felt really special in.” She paired her romantic wedding dress with a pair of African opal earrings that were a gift from her mom. Her bouquet, which was overflowing with a lush combination of garden roses, anemones, astilbe, ranunculus, lisianthus, dusty millers, and seeded eucalyptus, mirrored the colors used throughout the day, as well as Jackson's natural landscape.
Dane’s classic black tuxedo, tie clip, and tie were all from Hugo Boss. Not to be outdone by his bride's gorgeous blooms, Dane completed his look with a white ranunculus boutonniere that was perfectly accentuated with greenery.
Rather than have a traditional wedding party, Lindsay and Dane decided to include their entire family in the ceremony. The processional included Dane’s parents, Lindsay’s mom, and Dane’s nieces and nephews. The ring bearers matched Dane in simple black tuxedos, while the flower girls wore taupe A-line dresses with ballet flats. Each adorable girl held a mossy basket, tied with blush and ivory ribbons, that was filled with petals. They each also wore a ranunculus bloom in their hair.
The ceremony, which overlooked the mountains and Snake River, began with Lindsay's father walking her down the aisle while a family friend played the piano. Another family friend served as the officiant, sharing stories and anecdotes about the happy couple. After exchanging traditional vows, the couple was officially pronounced husband and wife.
To kick off the celebration, the couple served Moscow mules as their signature cocktail. They also passed appetizers like sushi, tempura rock shrimp, and duck prosciutto with goat cheese crostini during the cocktail hour. Guests found their seating assignments on marble hexagons.
Lindsay and Dane chose a clear tent for the reception to take advantage of the mountain and meadow views. "Inspired by my dress, we chose a blush color palette but added in rose-gold and copper tones," the bride says. "Overall, we wanted the reception to feel romantic but still modern." Draped blush fabric, bistro lighting, and rose-gold chandeliers on either side of the tent helped bring that vision to life while still allowing Jackson's stunning landscape to shine through.
The couple chose a mix of round and long tables but topped each with an assortment of votive candles and pale-blush linens. Half the centerpieces were held in large copper bowls and surrounded by gray pillar candles on slabs of marble. The other half of the tables were embellished with flowers in hand-cut marble boxes—a genius idea from Lindsay and Dane's planner! To keep things looking unified, the couple decided on a mix of seeded eucalyptus, garden roses, astrantia, lisianthus, and dusty millers on each table, no matter which vessel they were arranged in.
Our favorite detail of all has to be the couple's amazing hammered copper chargers, which were brought in just for the day, along with gold-rimmed crystal glasses and matching hammered flatware. The mixed metals and different textures made for some of the chicest wedding tables we've ever seen.
The couple’s first dance as husband and wife was to an acoustic version of Rihanna’s "Diamonds in the Sky" by Alice Olivia, performed live by the couple’s band, the Party Crashers from Salt Lake City. The band caught Lindsay’s eye seven years earlier when she was photographing a wedding. “I knew then that whenever I got married, they would be the band. It was a full-circle moment,” she shares. Complete with choreography and costume changes, they kept guests on their feet all night.
For dinner, the bride and groom chose buffet stations that included salad, olive-and-artichoke-braised chicken, and pancetta-wrapped black cod. Lindsay and Dane also offered guests an assortment of desserts, including cupcakes, candy, and chocolate-covered strawberries. Their wedding cake was a four-tiered white cake with layers of fresh raspberries and champagne buttercream.
The happy couple traveled throughout southern Spain on their honeymoon, ending their trip in Lisbon, Portugal. For those in the midst of planning their big day, Lindsay offers this sage advice: “Stay true to who you are as a couple and keep the bigger picture in mind, remembering at the end of the day it’s a celebration of your commitment to each other and the life you are starting together.”
