Most Requested Pop Songs

"The royalty of pop seems to rule the request lists. Artists like Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake cross demographics and are really great at getting people of different generations on the dance floor. All of these artists (and ones like them) have created sounds with old school callbacks with a new twist. If I start a party with '24K,' by Bruno Mars, it typically fills a floor fast!" says Dallas-based DJ Rodney Baker.

Wedding Song Requests Made Easy

When it comes to actually making the request, Seattle-based wedding planner Julia Pavlovski suggests giving guests an option to jot down a song they'd like to hear when they RSVP. "That's really helpful for the DJ as he's structuring his song list because he already knows these are the songs that guests want to hear so he can work them into his playlist where they make sense," she says.

Alternatively, you can set up a station with a sign that says "DJ Put Your Record On" with a bowl and slips of paper where guests can make requests. Again, this will allow the DJ to work the requests into his playlist in a way that feels natural. "He's not going to play 'Get Low,' for example, after a really slow love song," Pavlovski says.
