When you think of a couple’s wedding day, all eyes and attention are typically on the soon-to-be married. Yet, with Mother’s Day fast approaching, it’s important to give a little love to all the moms of brides and grooms out there too. We asked moms to share the most memorable moments of their child’s wedding. From their first look, stroll down the aisle, and beyond—hear what they had to say, and don't forget to give your mom some extra love on this Mother's Day Sunday.
“I would have to say the most memorable moment was when I saw her in her gown for the first time. I had been with her to her fittings and to pick out the dress, but something about her turning around in the gown, all ready to go get married, really got me. I knew I would be emotional all day, but nothing really prepared me for that.” —Karen
“Besides the usual joy, elation, happiness, love, and stress I felt, the day was beyond perfect, and I was in disbelief that I was actually old enough to have a child getting married! I tried to raise my two sons to have ‘roots and wings.’ I had a sense of contentment and satisfaction of a job well done on his wedding day, that my son, my baby, had strong enough wings to fly safely into the arms of a very strong and loving woman and that all was well.” —Christina
“Seeing my daughter walk down the aisle was a surreal experience. It’s something you dream of since the moment they put your baby in your arms, along with a host of other milestones. The fact that it was happening right then, in front of my very eyes, flooded me with emotion and joy.” —Michele
“The best memory of the entire day was when we were all together in our home, before we went to the church. I had both my daughters together, and it was very special.” —AnnaLisa
“Of course it got me when my son walked down the aisle and was waiting to see his bride for the first time, but my favorite memory was my dance with him. In the middle of the dance floor, it’s like the hundreds of people disappeared and it was just us. I saw him as a married man for the first time, but to me his face was still the same as my little boy. The whole day was incredible, but I’ll never forget our dance, and luckily we have it on video too.” —Evie
“My daughter and her husband had dated since high school, so I felt that I had added joy watching them get married, as she was my daughter and I had watched him grow up as well. The best moment I remember was their personal vows to each other. It was beautiful, honest, and emotional. It was one of the best days of my life, and I know it was the best day of theirs.” —Marie
“It’s so hard to pick one moment that is the stand-out. Of course, I bet most moms, myself included, would say seeing their daughter as a bride for the first time was incredible and unforgettable. I also loved the moment when my daughter had a special dance with her grandma, my mom. It’s such a blessing to have had three generations together to share the wedding day.” —Gail
