A Modern Museum Wedding in Miami

A week before Thanksgiving in 2015, Tiffany Fields and Claudel Jeannot were in Costa Rica for a romantic getaway. “Claudel had planned a private dinner on the beach,” Tiffany recalls. “We followed a candlelit path through the jungle to dinner, and that’s where he proposed.”

Claudel convinced Tiffany that a destination wedding was a good idea, and she’s glad he did. “We loved the Perez Art Museum in Miami, and knew we were in great hands with their staff. As a woman in the event business myself, I couldn’t have asked for more!” says the bride. On March 18, 2017, the couple wed with 200 friends and family members in attendance. They embraced the museum’s modern design, using white flowers and sleek details to enhance the setting. “I tried to plan the wedding myself, but after six months I knew I needed help. I handed everything over to Tracy Taylor Ward, and she knocked it out of the park!” Tiffany says.

For the ceremony, Tiffany opted for a fashion-forward take on a more traditional style. Her Berta gown featured shimmering white details on a nude underlay, topped with a flowing overskirt. “I love the fun and flirty details, and have been so drawn to the popular Israeli and Australian designers,” says the bride. She carried an architectural bouquet of cascading white calla lilies, paired with crisp grass.

The ceremony took place in the museum’s manicured gardens, with arrangements of white orchids and green goddess calla lilies.

Claudel wore a white Tom Ford jacket with a black shirt for the ceremony, pairing his attire with Ferragamo loafers. Instead of a wedding party, the couple’s families wore black and joined them as attendants. “We had our closest friends sit in the first two rows to honor their importance in our lives,” says the bride.

At the reception, guests were seated at a combination of rectangular white acrylic tables and round tables topped with white linens. Towering arrangements of white calla lilies in gold stands added height to the room, while nearby tables sported modern runners of ferns and white tulips. Place settings had shining black chargers and gold flatware.

Each menu was personalized with the guest’s name and described the meal: a citrus and goat cheese salad, miso-glazed sea bass, and beef short rib. “Since we were in Miami, we made sure to offer fresh items like ceviche too,” Tiffany says.

Instead of slicing a cake, each guest was given one of 200 miniature cakes in a range of flavors: Mocha chocolate chip, lemon drop, vanilla rum, and carrot cake.

After dinner, Claudel and Tiffany treated their guests to an evening of entertainment, including Living Vines (a performance troupe on stilts dressed to blend into the museum’s natural surroundings!) and ballerinas who performed to “Matrimony” by Wale and Usher.

“Start planning sooner rather than later,” says Tiffany. “That way you’ll be able to really relax when it’s closer to your wedding day! Don’t follow my example, and instead hire a planner and get things figured out early on.”
