Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton were the ultimate country couple until their divorce in 2015, when rumors arose that Lambert had been having an affair. Since then, the two have gone their separate ways, but in a recent interview with Billboard, Lambert opens up about the heartbreak she experienced after the divorce.
"I won’t look at things ever again in the same light, because different things in your life bring you to a deeper level with yourself," the "Over You" singer said in the interview. "I won’t take pain for granted anymore."
Fans say that her side of the story is told on her new album, The Weight of These Wings, which won Album of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards. Lambert confirmed by saying, "If you want to hear my side of the story or my opinion of what happened, it’s all on there. There’s no mystery anymore. Take from it what you will."
She added that the album isn't just about the breakup, but rather focuses on a variety of themes.
"I walked in with guns blazing," she said about the new album. "I just knew one thing: I didn’t want a breakup record."
The bold blonde admitted that she isn't always the outgoing star she seems.
"I'm more known for my fiery personality and my confidence, but that’s not me all the time," she said.
Shortly after their split, she and Shelton started into new relationships. Lambert is now with R&B artist Anderson East. Shelton began dating Gwen Stefani, his cohost on The Voice, and it's been rumored that the two have wedding bells in their future.
Lambert said that, ultimately, getting over her divorce has been a rollercoaster, though she is moving forward now.
"I was like, 'Let’s feel it all,'" she said. "I was ready to have the days where I can’t even stand up and the days where I’m celebrating."
