For #InternationalKissingDay, Miley Cyrus threw it back...all the way back, to the set of 2010 romantic drama The Last Song, where she met her now-fiancé Liam Hemsworth. And it turns out that their first kiss for the movie was also their very first kiss as a couple. "Happy #InternationalKissingDay! 💋💋💋 Our first smooch 8 years ago! ❤️❤️❤️," she captioned the sweet pic.
The Last Song, based on a novel by The Notebook author Nicholas Sparks, follows Ronnie Miller (Miley), a rebellious teen with a gift for music, who is sent to live with her father Steve Miller (Greg Kinnear) for a summer. She's very mad about it even though: 1) her father lives in a dope beach house and 2) she meets and falls for Will Blakelee (Liam), who is totally cute! In true Sparks-ian fashion, someone has a secret terminal illness, but if you want to find out who, you're going to have to rent the movie or read the book.
After meeting on the film and starting a romance, Miley and Liam became engaged, but later broke up. But last year, the pair began publicly dating again; now they're...somewhere between engaged and not. (They're together, and sometimes Miley wears a ring.)
It sounds like they're as in love as ever, especially if you listen to Miley's most recent single "Malibu," which features lyrics like: "We are just like the waves that flow back and forth / Sometimes I feel like I'm drowning and you're there to save me / And I wanna thank you with all of my heart / It's a brand new start/ A dream come true / In Malibu."
For a couple who met on a set of a movie about finding love and peace through music, it looks like life really does imitate art.
