Gym, tan...marriage? Jersey Shore alum Mike Sorrentino, better known as "the Situation," announced his engagement to his college sweetheart, Lauren Pesce, on April 26, 2018. Despite the pair's recent engagement, the couple already seems eager to tie the knot—in Italy, naturally.

"We’re definitely planning," Pesce told People. "We don’t have a date yet—I think we need to see how this timing pans out for the rest of the year. But we’ve been ready for this, so we’re definitely not looking for a long engagement."

The pair's wedding planning may, unfortunately, have to be put on hold while Sorrentino deals with tax evasion charges. The 35-year-old pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing June 20. He could face up to five years in prison. "We’re doing this one day at a time until we get past certain situations," Sorrentino said.

We can only hope the couple's nuptials, whenever they may be, will mean a full Jersey Shore reunion (looking at you, Sammi Sweetheart), and that Sorrentino will enjoy some good old T-shirt time before he suits up in his wedding attire. There's even talk of the couple's ceremony making an appearance on the next season of Jersey Shore: Family Reunion, and Sorrentino seems fully on board.

"I would have to say in the next couple of months, we’re planning to do the wedding along with season 2—God willing," Sorrentino said. "We’re actually in the planning stages now."

TBD on whether Pesce is okay with having an on-screen wedding, but the future bride divulged some of her own ideas for their nuptials.

"Mike and I have always, always wanted to do a destination wedding with our close family and friends," she said. "Our dream was always to go to the motherland and get married in Italy and have it be an experience with the people closest to us—our immediate family, his closest friends from the cast. But now that we’re getting down to actually planning it, I think we’re going to try to do the best of both worlds and hopefully we’ll be able to that with family and friends, and then we’ll be able to have a big reception and celebration in New Jersey—you know, Italian-American style, with the whole family and every acquaintance to celebrate."

Sorrentino announced via Instagram that he popped the question on the Point Pleasant, New Jersey, boardwalk. "GYM TAN WE’RE ENGAGED!!" he captioned one of the couple's many photos from the special day. Pesce also flaunted her new bridal bling in a selfie on her own Instagram account, which appears to be a square-cut diamond on a white gold or platinum band.

According to People, Pesce and Sorrentino's love story began in 2004 after the pair crossed paths in college. After dating for four years, they parted ways in 2009 when Sorrentino began filming for Jersey Shore, but got back together in 2012 once the series came to a close. The rest is history.

"When I met Mike, I met him as a person and not as a celebrity," Pesce said. "So I’ve always known him at his core—him being the most giving and loving family-type of guy in his soul. And through any kind of ups and downs, any kind of darkness that he went through, I always knew that person inside was so important and worth fighting for. I always wanted him to see how special he is so that he would be willing to fight for himself."

Congratulations are in order for Mike "the Situation" Sorrentino and Lauren Pesce, and may these two never stahp fighting for each other.
