Michelle Obama, Barack Obama, Kate Middleton, Prince William and the new royal baby? Now that is one party we wouldn't mind being invited to—especially if the dress code is "pajamas." The former First Lady tweeted her congratulations to the royal family on the birth of their third child on Monday, noting that she hopes they'll be able to meet in the same way the Obamas met Prince George back in the day: while wearing a bathrobe.
"Barack and I are thrilled to congratulate The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on their newest arrival! We hope to meet him soon for a Kensington Palace pajama party. I’ll wear my robe!" she wrote on Twitter alongside world's cutest vintage photo of Prince George in his PJ's, holding court at Kensington Palace with his dad and President Obama.
Kate and Prince William welcomed their latest addition on Monday morning in the same hospital where 4-year-old Prince George and 2-year-old Princess Charlotte were born. "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs. The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well," Kensington Palace shared from their Twitter account. "The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news."
Though Michelle and Kate are seemingly friendly (the internet was aflutter a few years ago when news broke that the duchess had recommended a particular skincare cream that the former FLOTUS added to her routine), as are Obama, Prince William and Prince Harry, the Obama family was not invited to the upcoming royal wedding between Harry and Meghan Markle. "Both the couples look forward to seeing each other soon,” a source told People, before confirming that the Obamas would not be at the May 19 nuptials.
NBD, though—sounds like they have a pretty important a pajama party to plan for.
