Meghan Trainor Is Inviting Her Wedding Guests Via Text Message

Well, that's one way to do it

It looks like Meghan Trainor won't be taking the traditional route when it comes to certain details of her wedding to actor Daryl Sabara—details like their wedding invitations for instance, since, well, there aren't any! Instead of traditional paper invites, Trainor has taken to inviting her wedding guests via text message, she explained during her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday.

“My problem is I’m not sending out invites, ’cause ugh,” explained Trainor. “Like, no. I’m texting people. I keep accidentally hanging out with friends and being like, ‘Yo, you wanna see me get married?’ And then I invite them, and I’m like, ‘Oh no, why did I invite these people?’ You know?”

As proof of her impulsive invites, Trainor then added host Jimmy Fallon to her guest list. "If you want to go, you can come too," she told the talk show host. "I’ll text you.”

But what about email wedding invitations, Meghan?! “You’re not going to send one of those fake envelope things, where you click the envelope?” Fallon asked during the interview, practically reading our minds.

“That’s a lot. That’s a lot of work to do,” said Trainor. “I’m tired. I don’t want to pick out a card,” she added. “What if they don’t get it in the mail? Who checks their mail? They always check their texts.” Sigh... This, we hate to admit, is true.

"What if it goes to junk mail? You know what I’m saying? It’s not a guarantee," explained the 24-year-old. "Everyone reads their texts even if they don’t respond."

These nontraditional text message invites shouldn't come as too much of a surprise considering that the bride and groom, who got engaged last December, are planning on having a picnic-style wedding. Since the news of their engagement broke, the two have been slowly revealing details about their big day—including the fact that Trainor's costars from reality show The Four, P. Diddy and DJ Khaled, plan not only to attend, but also to perform for the couple at their reception.

And the groom is just as excited as the bride is. In September, Sabara told People that he was thrilled for his upcoming nuptials. “I’m so excited. Dreaming about it every night,” Sabara said. “It’s her special day, I’m just happy to be a part of it. Just excited that she said ‘yes’ to the engagement.”
