According to People, the 25-year-old stunned in an off-the-shoulder Berta gown with a handmade veil and hand-sewn cape, featuring hundreds of appliqués, crystals, and beads. Before tapping the bridal line, however, Trainor actually owes her stylist, Hayley Atkin, for pushing her in the right wedding dress direction.
"I told her, hey, I want sparkly and I want it to show my curves," Trainor told People regarding her initial wedding dress vision. Based on Trainor's feedback, Atkin pulled a dress that she herself had helped create for the bride to try on, but it unfortunately wasn't The One. "I didn’t have that moment, like, 'Wow,'" Trainor admitted. "Luckily, I do fittings a lot, so I know what it’s supposed to feel like. And then I was like, 'Let’s do another thing and just bring a bunch of dresses.'"
Turns out, this tactic worked, and she fell hard for a frock that hadn't been on her radar at all. "[Atkin] brought one that was completely opposite, off-the-shoulder, very elegant, very plain and just classy. And I put that on, and everyone in the room was like, 'Oh my God!'"
With this dress fueling her wedding inspo, a similar Berta frock commanded the "Dear Future Husband" vocalist's attention. "Meghan loved the Berta look and style to begin with, and she had her eyes set on a specific new design from the brand’s new Athens collection," Berta Balilti, the founder of the eponymous label, explained to People. "She just had a few modification requests to make it a bit more modest, but the main inspiration was a sparkly glamorous look, which we’re known for."
Using the gown pictured above as the base, the Israeli designer crafted Trainor's dream dress, which she describes as "glamorous, sensational and modern," in two months with two dress fittings. And, after stepping into the frock, she finally had her gushy bridal moment.
"I couldn’t stop doing this goofy smile, where I was like, looking at myself in the mirror," Trainor said. "That’s when it kind of really hit me, like, 'Wow, I’m gonna be so pretty!' and I just started yelling at everyone, 'I’m gonna be so pretty!'" The bride, who undoubtedly lived up to her own expectations, also swapped outfits for the reception, taking to a Rita Vinieris suit with Aldo sneakers, People reports.
Unfortunately, Trainor's recently-launched Berta wedding dress of choice hasn't made its way to retailers just yet. But, you can still channel her look with pieces from the line's Spring and Fall 2019 bridal collections.
