Meghan Markle is not a regular mom—she's a cool mom.
At least, that's what some of her closest friends revealed in a new documentary about the Duchess of Sussex. In a new CBS special, Meghan and Harry Plus One, members of Meghan's inner circle—including wedding makeup artist Daniel Martin and actress Janina Gavankar—spoke with Gayle King (another one of Meghan's dear friends) about what their royal pal will be like as a mom.
"She's gonna be such a good mother...I think she'll be very low maintenance, very hands-on. The way she would have been if she hadn't married into the royal family," Gavankar says in the film, per Cosmopolitan. "Meghan's gonna be strict...not in some sort of, you know, intense way. But she's an incredibly practical person…she's gonna run a tight ship." According to Martin, who was responsible for Meghan's wedding day glam, the Duchess will likely raise the baby "clean and green." He notes that she "loves to cook…eating organic whenever she can," he says, and confirms that he can, "totally see her making her [baby] own food."
Before the special aired, there was a lot of speculation surrounding Meghan's involvement in the program. To put the rumors to rest once and for all, Buckingham Palace released a statement on Friday, confirming, "The Duchess has not had any involvement in the CBS special, nor has she requested or given permission to friends to participate." Duly noted.
As far as learning the ropes of motherhood go, Meghan has had a great role model around since she welcomed baby Archie on May 6th. Her mom, Doria Ragland, has been in the U.K. helping her daughter transition into mom life and undoubtedly playing the role of doting grandmother. “She’s super-excited—she and Meghan are so close” a source said of Ragland. Another person added, "Harry really gets on well with her too... Any new mom wants her own mom around at this time, so it’s great.”
