Looks like former Suits star Meghan Markle is taking her previous TV role to heart off-screen. The bride-to-be attended her first awards ceremony today, the Endeavour Fund Awards in London, since her engagement to fiancé Prince Harry. And as if we weren't already envious enough of the style-savvy future royal's wardrobe (and engagement ring), Markle's outfit at the event was one we'll immediately be copying and sporting to the office (and beyond) next week.
She turned heads (yet again) in a to-die-for black pantsuit, white blouse, and black pumps. Fashionistas, take note—Markle sported an Alexander McQueen classic suiting jacket blazer with cropped fitted pants, a Tuxe Bodywear bodysuit with a bow, and statement-making black stilettos. So simple, yet so chic.
Harry sported a blue suit and tie to the event, similar to the outfit he wore for his engagement photo session. As dapper as he looked, Markle without a doubt stole the show in the suit department and definitely outshone her fiancé. Sorry, Harry.
Today marked a popular day in terms of royal Alexander McQueen looks. Markle's future sister-in-law, the pregnant Kate Middleton, wore the designer to a dinner during her Sweden and Norway official tour with Prince William. The glowing mother-to-be, whose third child is due this April, took a different approach and made a statement sporting a blush dress with cape-like overlay and neckline embellishments (very reminiscent of Bridal Fashion Week 2018). We have to hand it to the women in the royal family; you can't get much more fashion-forward than these two.
While some were less than enthused that Markle didn't arrive at her event in a dress, there are no denying women's polished pantsuits are completely badass, and Markle can rock the heck out of one. Plus, let's be real—it's the 21st century, and Markle hasn't been known to follow tradition, especially in terms of royal wedding planning. We totally back her pantsuit choice—and everything else she wears, for that matter, messy bun and all.
Markle's engagement-photo dress also proves her impeccable clothing taste and that playing by the royal dress-code rules aren't her thing. The future royal donned a sheer number during her photo session at Frogmore House with Prince Harry, which many argued was a risqué choice for a soon-to-be member of the royal family. But, giving us flashbacks to Amanda Bynes in What a Girl Wants, this iconic American is here to shake up the royal sphere.
The public is always quick to copy Markle's style (and with good reason), so stock up on your power pantsuits and black heels ASAP before they sell out! We're foreseeing a very, very high Alexander McQueen demand in the next few weeks.
