The newly appointed Duchess of Sussex exited her Rolls Royce at the base of the chapel stairs where she was greeted by her bridesmaids and pageboys. Her bridesmaids included Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, two of Prince Harry's goddaughters, two of Meghan Markle's goddaughters, and Jessica Mulroney's, Meghan Markle's best friend and wedding planner's, daughter. Her pageboys included His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge, Prince Harry's godson Jasper Dyer, and Jessica Mulroney's 7-year-old twin sons, who held Markle's veil as she walked down the aisle.
She exited the car and walked up the steps solo, amidst the cheers of the massive crowd. In true Meghan Markle fashion, she walked herself halfway down the aisle, which was a bold statement for the royal newlywed and feminist activist to make. She then met Prince Charles who walked her the rest of the way to the altar. Her gown, designed by British designer Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy, was a simple 3/4 length sleeve boatneck style. The dresses simplicity, though, made the perfect compliment for her miles-long veil, which stretched out behind her as she made her way to her prince.
She topped the look with Queen Mary’s Diamond Bandeau tiara.
Prince Harry was visibly (and adorably) nervous as he waited for his bride to make her way to him, and was a mix of emotions as he smiled at his bride and at one point, looked near tears. Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, was also emotional, and caught smiling wiping away tears as she watched her daughter. Oprah, Amal Clooney, and Serena Williams, among many other celebrities, were all there to bear witness to the historic moment as well.
In the moment Charles gave Meghan away to Prince Harry, Harry reportedly said, "thanks, pa," to his father, and then "you look amazing" to his bride.
BRB, crying again.
