Meghan Markle and Prince Harry do tons of public engagements together, and often they seem happiest when they're working as a team. Prince Harry even found a way to get Meghan involved at a recent charity event in London, where he asked the pregnant duchess to join him onstage for a quick side hug in front of thousands of people.
Prince Harry offered remarks at WE Day, a global fundraiser that brings together speakers, politicians, and celebrities in support of international development and ending child labor. (Other big speakers included Liam Payne, Naomi Campbell, and Nicole Scherzinger.) According to royal commentator Omid Scobie, Prince Harry aimed his speech at younger generations and encouraged them to inspire positive social change.
"Prince Harry shared a powerful quote by Martin Luther King Jr.: 'Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that," Scobie wrote on Twitter.
Then, as a bonus and grand finale, Prince Harry brought out Meghan to cheers from the audience. The sweet moment was caught on Instagram as he announced, "I'm now going to try and drag my wife on stage." He stretched out his hand and helped Meghan walk up the stairs to the stage. Once she was up, she gave the crowd a wave while Prince Harry wrapped an arm around her.
"Guys, I'm with you, and we are with you," Prince Harry told the audience. "Get to work!"
Meghan has been very active in social causes and philanthropic efforts going back to her days as an actress. Kensington Palace recently announced her royal patronages, which reflect issues she's focused on in the past: women's empowerment work, animal rights, access to education, and of course, the theater and the arts. So it couldn't be more fitting for Prince Harry to have her join him and help inspire young people at the massive event—he knows she's a role model!
