The obsession with all things Meghan Markle is still very real, especially when it comes to her enviable and effortless royal style. From the always sold-out Mother jeans she wore to her first ever public appearance with Prince Harry to imitations of her Givenchy wedding dress, the Duchess of Sussex is following in her sister-in-law Kate Middleton's footsteps as a bona fide fashion icon. But whereas, previously, Markle's style simply brought her adoration and imitation—now it is earning her award nominations.
Markle just earned a Teen Choice Award nomination for Choice Style Icon. Not only is it Markle's first time being nominated, it is also the first time ever that a member of the royal family has been up for a Teen Choice Award since the show's inception in 1999.
Competing against the Duchess of Sussex in the style icon category are Blake Lively, Chadwick Boseman, Harry Styles, Migos, and Zendaya. Teen Choice Award winners are decided by public votes, which can be cast here. Markle has yet to comment on the nomination, and there's no indication whether she would attend—but we're thinking that's going to be a no. Markle is a very busy duchess now with royal tours to attend to!
It isn't just Markle's style that is earning her recognition in the world of awards shows, however: Entertainment Tonight confirmed earlier this month that she had been submitted for Emmy consideration in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category for her role as Rachel Zane on Suits. If Markle is nominated, it will be the first time she has earned a major award nomination for her work on the USA network show—and, of course, the first for a royal. (The cast of The Crown does not count.)
