After going on their first two back-to-back dates in London in mid-2016, Markle returned to Toronto to continue filming Suits, while Harry remained in the U.K. to fulfill his princely duties. Now, after a year and a half of flying back and forth across the globe to see each other, the pair are set to be married in May 2018, and according to a source close to the couple, the secret to their relationship success is the same as that of pretty much any other long-distance duo.
The source told E! News that Markle and Harry FaceTime "every day when they’re apart," which has reportedly "played a huge role in their relationship." They are also "big texters," and, per the source, Harry is a fan of using GIFs and emojis in his text messages. This news, of course, has left the entire world wondering what Prince Harry’s favorite emoji is—the prince? The British flag? The Virgo symbol? And does he send Meghan Markle GIFs to Meghan Markle? We need answers!
Happily, the royal couple won’t be doing the long-distance thing for much longer. Markle recently wrapped her final episodes of Suits and has reportedly started the move to London, where she’ll settle down in Harry’s Nottingham Cottage, next door to Prince William and Kate Middleton on the Kensington Palace grounds.
Markle is also reportedly planning on spending Christmas with the royal family. According to The Telegraph, the actress will most likely be invited to the family’s three-day celebration at Sandringham House in Norfolk—despite the fact that Kate wasn’t invited to the royal holiday festivities in 2010, one month after her royal engagement.
