Before Meghan Markle met Prince Harry and fell in love, she was known to Suits fans as Rachel Zane. And as her IRL May 19 royal wedding date approaches, Markle will also say "I do" to her on-screen fiancé, played by Patrick J. Adams. The show's official Twitter account just teased a trailer for the latest season, which is to be the actress's last, and it's so romantic you might need some tissues. "From coworkers to lovers and everything in between. Find out how Mike and Rachel's story ends when #Suits returns March 28," the account tweeted.
The 30-second trailer features Adams as Mike Ross declaring his love for Rachel. "I wanted to marry you since the moment I met you," he says. Later, as Adams proposes, we get a glimpse of Markle's ugly crying face (which is, of course, not even the slightest bit unattractive) and for a second can imagine what her face might have looked like when Prince Harry got down on one knee for real. At the end of the trailer, Markle says, "It'd be the adventure of a lifetime." Which might be true, but no matter how Rachel and Mike end up, it certainly won't be quite as exciting for an adventure as Markle's real-life fairytale romance. For that story, fans will have to tune in to Lifetime's forthcoming movie about their courtship.
Both Adams, who is married to actress Troian Bellisario, and Markle are leaving the show after this season, but Adams insists that there is no real-life inspiration in the impending fictional nuptials. "[Suits creator] Aaron [Korsh] has always actively avoided any sort of real-life commentary," the actor has said. "He actively wanted to keep those two worlds totally separate. People can draw their own conclusions and comparisons. The last season of Suits has been really special in that we didn’t let anything bleed into our world."
Sadly, whatever dress Markle's character wears in her on-screen wedding likely won't give us any hints about the royal choice. But luckily, we won't have to wait long for either to be revealed.
