The year was 2016, and as far as the world knew Meghan Markle was simply an actress who had appeared in a series of Hallmark flicks and starred in Suits. By all accounts, she was a regular person, and like most "regular people," she had a personal Instagram account. What the world did not know back then, though, is that this "regular person" quietly started dating Prince Harry. And like any "regular person" in the 21st century starting a new relationship, she began subtly dropping hints about her budding romance on social media.
Though her account has since been deleted (which is what happens when you make the transition from "regular person" to "future duchess"), BuzzFeed recently did a deep dive into her old posts and uncovered Internet gold: an alleged photo of a man who may be Prince Harry wearing a vintage Golden Girls sweatshirt.
In the shot from October 2016, the lower half of a man's scruffy face is visible, seeming to resemble Prince Harry's signature red beard. He's wearing a cream-colored sweatshirt with drawings of two of the Golden Girls faces on it that reads "Dorothy in the streets, Blanche in the sheets." Yes, you read that right.
"I take full responsibility for this sweatshirt. He wears it well. #goldengirls #truth," Markle captioned the post, per BuzzFeed, which has receipts of the now-deleted images.
This wasn't the only time BuzzFeed found Markle possibly alluding to their relationship on social before the news broke that she and the prince were dating. In July 2016, the actress posted a photo of a stunning floral bouquet admitting she was "spoiled rotten." In October, she shared a photo of herself wearing a beaded blue bracelet identical to one Harry had been spotted in. And in late October she shared a shot of two cuddling bananas, which many believed represented she and her royal new beau.
Meghan, perhaps it's time to make like Princess Eugenie and re-instate that Instagram...for Harry's #OTTDs alone.
