Meghan Markle's Outfit From Her First Public Outing With Prince Harry Had Some Discreet Foreshadowing

She wore it exactly a year ago

One year ago began the public's unfaltering fascination obsession with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as they made their first public appearance as a couple at the Invictus Games. After the world finished swooning over their PDA-filled debut, next on everyone's minds (or maybe just ours) was when we could start planning their royal wedding. (Thankfully we didn't have to wait long!) And as it turns out, Meghan's choice of attire for the event actually very ironically predicted her future marital status.

You'll likely remember the newly minted Duchess of Sussex's laid-back look from the occasion—ripped Mother skinny jeans, brown Sarah Flint flats, and a white button-down. What you may not know, though, is that her blouse, from the Misha Nonoo collection, is deemed "The Husband Shirt." Holy foreshadowing! Was Meghan hinting at something from the get-go, and we all missed it!?

Whether the outfit choice was intentional or not, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their engagement just two months after Meghan donned the white blouse, so we can't help but think that their fate was written in the (fashion) stars.

Even if you're not dating a prince (hard to come by these days), you can still sport the "Husband Shirt" to channel Meghan's enviable style (or drop some passive aggressive hints to your S.O.). Designed by one of the royal's close friends, the wardrobe staple totes metal button closures, intended to transition the top from day to nightwear. Make this your new go-to workwear piece, or #SparkleLikeMarkle and pair with skinnies and flats.
