It looks like we’re not the only ones who stopped watching Suits after Meghan Markle's exit last year. While on hand at Monday’s Coach Core Awards, identical twins Luke and Elliott Rainbird, whom she'd met before at another royal event, asked the Duchess of Sussex if she’d seen the show’s new season. According to People, Markle "said no before turning the conversation back to Coach Core."
Markle left the USA legal drama after seven seasons to embark on her new life with Prince Harry. During her first public interview alongside Harry, she was asked how she felt about leaving the show. “I don’t see it as giving anything up. I just see it as a change," she told Sky News last November. "It’s a new chapter, right? And also, keep in mind, I’ve been working on [Suits] for seven years. We were very, very fortunate to have that sort of longevity on a series. I’ve ticked this box, and I feel very proud of the work I’ve done there, and now it’s time to work with [Harry] as a team."
Markle isn’t the only one embracing this new chapter. Season 8 of Suits saw the arrival of Katherine Heigl as a headstrong lawyer looking to shake things up, a move that has been well-received by critics and fans alike. And when Markle announced her departure from Suits, the show’s creators showed there were no hard feelings via a heartfelt statement congratulating her on her engagement.
“From all of us at USA Network and Universal Cable Productions, we want to send our most heartfelt congratulations to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on their engagement,” the statement read. “Meghan has been a member of our family for seven years and it has been a joy to work with her. We want to thank her for her undeniable passion and dedication to Suits, and we wish her the very best.”
If Markle does feel like catching up with her old colleagues, we have some good news: Suits is currently streaming on Netflix.
