Way back before Meghan Markle was engaged to the most eligible bachelor in all the land and had a royal wedding to plan, she took her very first walk down the aisle in 1986—as a flower girl! The nearly royal bride-to-be appeared as a flower girl at her aunt’s wedding, and the throwback photo is all kinds of cute.
Prince Harry better start rehearsing because it looks like his fiancée already has this whole wedding thing down pat. Practice makes perfect, after all, and Markle got her first trial run in 30 years ago when she attended her aunt’s wedding and served as flower girl. In the photograph, originally obtained by People, a young Markle is seen looking positively precious in a white lace dress, clutching a tiny posy bouquet. The flower-girl ensemble came complete with an ’80s-chic matching hair bow. Think this now-bride-to-be will rock a similar hair accessory with her royal wedding dress?
Since this wedding is slated to take place at the regal St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle and is, you know, royal, we’re thinking Markle will stick to more elegant (i.e. grown up) accessories this time around. But this bride only has limited time to decide! Prince Harry and Markle’s wedding is due to take place in just seven months, in May 2018, according to a statement issued by Kensington Palace.
Already the world is speculating what kind of wedding dress Markle will wear down the aisle when that date rolls around. Thankfully, in a 2016 interview with Glamour, the 36-year-old may have given us some hints of what she’ll wear on the big day. "I personally prefer wedding dresses that are whimsical or subtly romantic," Markle mused at the time, while discussing the wedding of her Suits character.
"Delphine Manivet and Christos Costarellos are faves of mine for their uniqueness and beauty," she said of her favorite wedding-dress designers. "And I will always be a fan of Elie Saab. J. Mendel is spectacular as well, especially for more structural designs."
Hmm... We wonder if one of these designers will end up crafting this royal wedding dress.
