Prince Louis is turning one! The youngest son of Prince William and Kate Middleton is celebrating his first birthday today, April 23, and the royal family is marking the occasion by releasing new photos of Prince Louis. Naturally, everyone is fawning over the adorable pics of the little royal—including Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, apparently! The Duke and Duchess of Sussex commented with a sweet message on the photos on Instagram, wishing their nephew a happy birthday.
“Happy Birthday Prince Louis!” the official Instagram account of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wrote yesterday, alongside a new photo of Prince Louis. “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to share this new photograph of Prince Louis ahead of his first birthday tomorrow.”
According to screenshots obtained by E! News, Meghan and Harry then commented on the sweet photo from their official Instagram account, which they started earlier this month.
"Happy Birthday Louis!" the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wrote. "Sending lots of love from both of us xo." (That's totally Auntie Meghan writing that, right?)
The next birthday the family will be celebrating will be the arrival of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s own child. The Duchess of Sussex is reportedly due any day now. She previously revealed that she has an April due date, and has already celebrated with two baby showers and a babymoon. Prince Harry attended Easter services with the queen this past Sunday but without Meghan by his side, further confirming the end of her pregnancy is near.
Fans won’t be able to confirm the news immediately, however. Unlike Louis, who was photographed hours after his birth, Meghan and Harry have decided to reveal their baby's arrival on their own terms.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby," a Kensington Palace statement read. "Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”
If this is the plan, the duchess could have very well already given birth. Gasp! While this is hopefully not the case (we'd hate to miss the big moment!), fingers are crossed that the happy couple shares their good news with the world soon.
