Is it May 2018, yet? Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may have only announced their royal engagement mere days ago, but we're already counting down 'till the day they're due to wed at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in England. Although Kensington Palace has already announced when and where the couple is set to say their I dos, there are still so many details up in the air! What wedding dress will this literal princess bride wear down the aisle? Will Prince Harry recruit his royal niece and nephew, Princess Charlotte and Prince George, as flower girl and ring bearer? Will the Queen officiate?! (Probably not, but we can dream, can't we?)
Who better to ask than an expert? Celebrity wedding planner Mindy Weiss—who has previously planned the nuptials of stars like Ciara and Russel Wilson, Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello, and Ellen DeGeneres and Portia DeRossi—is here to give us her predictions on what this surely-spectacular affair will look like, from the Meghan's wedding dress to the couple's coveted invite.
"This might be Meghan's second wedding, but I still expect her to have a large affair!" muses Mindy. "They’re holding the ceremony at Windsor Castle," she added. "A nice way for the couple to differentiate themselves from Will and Kate's iconic wedding at Westminster Abbey."
"I think Meghan will respect the formality of the British tradition for the ceremony and reception," says Mindy. "I envision white peonies, crystal candelabras and touches of greenery woven throughout those crystal accents. Plus trees and foliage to give the room a bit of that California vibe. The afterparty will be where their true personalities will come out! I’m sure they’ll have a fab DJ!" We know some people if you're looking, Meghan!
"Meghan wore a simple sheath wedding dress to her first beachside wedding, but I expect her dress to be timeless, simple (with sleeves per tradition) and will a incorporate unique special detail that will become the wedding dress trend of 2018," Mindy explains. "I would love to see a wedding gown designed by Erdem! As for the bridesmaids’ dresses? This is where I’m excited to see something really unique (à la Pippa Middleton)."
According to Mindy, "With so much attention around the big wedding, Meghan and Harry will definitely need a relaxing getaway! I see them at a beachy destination like the Amalfi coast (a location Meghan is particularly fond of) or perhaps going for a bit of adventure by heading back to Botswana where they first fell in love."
"The invitation will be very traditional and follow suit of Kate and Will’s," explains Mindy, who, with The Wedding Shop by Shutterfly, created a mockup of what the invite might look like. "Something like The Wedding Shop by Shutterfly's Classic Herald wedding invitation would match the mood," she says.
