Mark Ballas and BC Jean are definitely soulmates. And to prove it, just listen to their new music. The newlyweds recently released their new EP, “High Enough,” under their group name, Alexander Jean, and, in fact, Ballas revealed that one of their featured songs, "Paper Planes," was actually inspired by the vows they wrote for their wedding last year. So romantic.
“We folded [our vows] and put them in a box I had, and we were talking about how cool it would be to write a song that was about [them],” Mallas told People. Jean adds, “'Paper Planes’ is basically a metaphor for our love."
The music video for the single was released yesterday and even features footage from the couple's nuptials. Spending all their time in the studio isn't a daunting task for these lovebirds either. “We’re each other’s muses,” Jean continued. “For some people, spending that much time together doesn’t work out well for them, but for Mark and I, we’re a balancing act. When one’s down, the other picks them up.”
Unfortunately, with all their time spent working on the EP, Ballas and Jean were unable to go on their honeymoon. (They'll celebrate on their one-year anniversary.) And as far as how their first year of marriage is going? Totally awesome. “When we got engaged, it was a new level, and when we got married, that was another new level,” Ballas gushed. “It’s incredible—a lot of people say the first year is one of the hardest, but we’ve been enjoying it. We have each other at the end of the day.”
The couple tied the knot the day after Thanksgiving last year in Malibu, California. The ceremony took place at Calamigos Ranch with tons of Dancing With the Stars alums in attendance, including Julianne Hough, Brittany Cherry, Sharna Burgess, Keo Motsepe, Cheryl Burke, Sasha Farber, Emma Slater, and Jenna Johnson.
