If you haven't noticed, wedding season is upon us. And if you aren't a bride, chances are you're probably a guest. If you also haven't noticed, there's tons of information dedicated to the bride's big day, whether it's in regards to makeup, skincare, or wellness. But what about attendees? You have your wedding-day dress in the closet, pressed, and ready to go. Your gift? That's covered as well (we're hoping with a very pretty bow). What about your makeup look for the day? Should you prep your face with any cool skincare products? If you're booked for a summer wedding, the ceremony will probably be held outdoors. And like the bride, the last think you'd want is for your concealer and foundation to turn into a makeup mudslide.
Fortunately, we tapped Marianna Hewitt, a beauty influencer whose blog Life With Me has garnered a massive audience due to its treasure trove of makeup, skincare, and hair secrets. Bouncing back and forth from the United States and Europe (which explains her impossibly chic style, as evidenced from her Instagram), beauty is always on the itinerary. Lucky for us, she's RSVP'd to quite a few weddings, and here, she reveals her tips and tricks to surviving the big day.
Tell us about your wedding day look. Do you tend switch it up depending on the location/venue?
I switch up my makeup routine depending on the location and time of day. For outdoor daytime weddings, I keep it minimal and rely on long-lasting products to get me through the warm weather! For evening weddings, I tend to go a little more formal. I love matte lipsticks to give your look a little bit of color without having to re-apply throughout the night.
On the hunt for a no-slip lippie? Try NARS' newest Power Matte Lip Pigment for a lightweight, long-wearing finish.
Your go-to hairstyle seems to be soft waves, beachy waves, would you typically try something different? Any hair products you use to help the style stay in place from ceremony to reception?
Depending on my dress I'll switch up my hair. For the last wedding I attended, my dress had a one-sleeved ruffle so I wore my hair in a low ponytail. I love TRESemmé's hair spray to keep it all in place so I don't have to fuss with my hair all night.
Your skin is amazing. Do you use any specific products/treatments as the wedding approaches, or stick to your normal routine?
I like to use Dr. Dennis Gross's Alpha Beta Glow Pads the night before I attend a wedding. It's a self-tanner that gives your skin a nice wash of color so you look sun-kissed for all the photos.
What’s the nail look for the night?
I always keep my nails neutral all-year-long so no matter what I'm wearing, they always last. I opt for a gel polish, especially if I'm traveling to a destination wedding so your polish will be chip-free. My favorite gel color is Orly polish in Kiss The Bride, how appropriate!
Anything you do in terms of health or fitness to prep for the day?
Drink lots of water, be sure to eat enough protein to keep yourself full. And if there's time, work out the morning of the wedding to feel extra confident in your beautiful dress!
