In the nightmare scenario of calling off your wedding (stick with us on this), there are several things one can do with the wedding dress they'll no longer be wearing down the aisle. You can donate it. You can attempt to re-sell it. Or you know, you can light it on fire and watch it burn along with the rest of your wedding day dreams. Wait, What?! Yes, leave it to Mariah Carey to put to rest her now-useless wedding dress in the most dramatic of fashion, as Carey recently indulged her pyromaniac side and set her bridal gown ablaze.
In October, the "We Belong Together" singer and her former fiancé James Packer realized that they, uhh, really didn't belong together. Go figure. The pair split, calling off their engagement and their assumedly absurd wedding day — which means, no more assumedly absurd wedding dress. Sad.
But Carey graciously gave us a sneak peek at the wedding dress that will never be during an episode of her E! docuseries Mariah's World where she tries on a glittery gown for the camera (taped pre-breakup, of course). But that wedding dress just made another appearance. Not down the aisle of course, but in a fiery ball of flames. Normal.
Mariah Carey used the music video for her new song "I Don't" as an opportunity to clean out her closet by setting fire to the wedding dress she'll never get to wear. "I know you love me. You just don't trust me," Carey croons. "You don't understand me. But you love it when I call you Ms. Carey." Ouch. Pointed much?
"I'm tired of cryin', no more tears, pity party of the year," Carey continues to sing in the video, in which she ends by dancing around her burning wedding dress — a $250,000 Valentino gown, according to Page Six.
Oh Mimi, never change...
