A Colorado man proposed to his girlfriend during a grocery store trip — in the freezer section — and immediately became our hero. After all, frozen dessert is an aphrodisiac, right? Here's how it all went down.
Luke Munsterteiger and his now-fiancé Else Schmit, both of Pueblo, Colorado, took a jaunt to the grocery store in what would most likely be the most memorable trip to the food store in their lives. And before you think he just couldn't take the engagement ring burning a hole in his pocket any longer, think again — this was very carefully planned and executed.
You see, the couple shares a love for Talenti Gelato — so much so that Munsterteiger reached out to the brand to see if they could help him pop the question to his unknowing girlfriend!
Of course, the gelato company obliged and sent Munsterteiger a personalized pint of Schmit's favorite flavor (Talenti Fudge Brownie Gelato, obviously) which was inscribed with the text, "Else, will you marry me?" Then, the rest was in the groom-to-be's hands (which involved a "casual" trip to the grocery store and a very targeted walk down to the gelato section with family there to capture the moment).
Once the couple picked their go-to flavor for their routine gelato fix, Musterteiger turned to his soon-to-be-fiancée and asked the question that would change both of their lives forever. The engagement ring was a solitaire round-cut diamond — which the bride proudly flashed for all to see in the sweetest (pun intended) of ring selfies.
The bride-to-be's sister was there to take some photos of the engagement on her phone, and she posted a photo collage of the happy couple on Instagram, captioning it, "'Else, will you marry me' = the best ice cream flavor :: Congratulations to my amazing sister and soon to be brother-in-law! #talenti #heputaringonit #bestengagementever #icecreamlovers #engagedAF @emay08."
It was pretty clear Schmit was totally surprised, as not many would expect the biggest question of their lives to go down inside of a grocery store (definitely not complaining when there's gelato involved, that's for sure).
Such an adorable and unique proposal — and a pint of gelato that will go down in frozen food aisle history.
