Madewell is best known for their jeans, button-down shirts and monogrammed bags, but they are about to make a huge splash in the lingerie world. The company just launched their first ever intimates collection, appropriately called Madewell Intimates.
The line is made up of bralettes and underwear that look unbelievably comfy with just a dash of sexy. The items come in basic colors like black and white, in addition to brights like rosewood pink and rainwashed peri.
"Our first-ever line of bralettes and undies inspired by the idea that underwear should be, well, understated," the Madewell website reads. "Think easy fabrics in a mix-and-match palette." The brand also shared a blog post Tuesday entitled "In Defense Of Minimalist Lingerie" to accompany their lingerie launch.
"When we were designing our new line of intimates...we started with ourselves. What kind of underpinnings were we looking for? Comfortable, pretty (but not saccharinely so) and, well, cool. A word that doesn’t get thrown around a lot when talking about underwear," Madewell wrote. "But that’s changing and [writer and friend of the brand Hayley] Phelan has some thoughts on why, 'The way we think about sexy—and perhaps especially, femininity—has changed. […] Women are increasingly asking themselves what makes them feel sexy, versus what makes them look sexy to others.'"
And the collection definitely fits the aforementioned preferences to a T. Take a look at some of the gorgeous items and see for yourself:
And hey, Madewell doesn't want you to think this stuff is just for special occasions. And we happen to agree—knowing you look great and feeling extra comfortable is an every day kind of thing.
"I’m all about how it makes me feel," Phelan continued in the blog post. "I’ve bought impractical underthings just because they make me happy. Which is the whole point! I guess if I had a tip it would be: Don’t save your favorite stuff for special occasions! Wear them all the time. Similarly, invest in everyday undies that you love love love—don’t just invest in special occasion ones."
