Hollywood's latest it-girl Lupita Nyong'o is known for her effortless beauty (the actress was named *People's *"Most Beautiful Person" for 2014) and amazing wardrobe. And while a good part of her style success is thanks to great genetics and flawless style, her hairstylist, Ted Gibson, deserves some credit too. Their relationship started professionally during a press tour for 10 Years a Slave, but now the pair are close friends. Case in point: Gibson married his partner, famed colorist Jason Backe, earlier this week in New York City, and Nyong'o was there to take part in the special day.
According to the Huffington Post, Gibson and Backe exchanged vows near the water at Pier 46's Hudson River Park in front of family and friends before celebrating with a beautiful three-tiered cake during the reception. The Oscar winner then took to her Instagram account to share a special tribute to her close friend, seen above.
Along with the collaged photo, Nyong'o wrote, "I witnessed the man who adds so much beauty to my life legalize his beautiful marriage. Thank you for the reminder that love and its declaration can be simple. Congratulations @tedgibsonbeauty."
In the bottom right photo, Nyong'o, in a little white dress, shares a laugh with Gibson and Backe, who are sporting matching black tuxes and lily boutonnieres. Later that evening, Gibson shared Nyongo's photo on his own account and wrote, "What a fun evening thank you @lupitanyongo for making it so special xo."
This isn't the first time Nyong'o expressed her belief that all couples should be allowed the right to marry. The actress was a presenter at the GLAAD awards earlier this year. "I wanted to be here tonight to stand in solidarity with this community and to support GLAAD's efforts to use the power of the media to create a more accepting and just world," she said.
We love Nyong'o's ongoing message of universal love and her desire to use her fame to help build a more tolerant world. Congratulations to the happy couple!
