Last winter, Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus tied the knot in a secret wedding that would seem almost impossible for a couple that famous. But they pulled it off, surrounded by family at their home in Tennessee.
Since then, the couple has been showing off that newlywed glow everywhere from red carpets to Instagram. Now the actor, 29, is opening up about married life with Cyrus—and the possibility of babies—in a new interview with GQ Australia.
“[Marriage] doesn’t change the relationship, it’s a more connected, deeper version of your relationship before you got married. But it’s still the same thing,” he said to the outlet. He's even able to joke about all the times the tabloids married the couple off in their headlines. “Yeah, I’ve been getting married for years now,” he laughs. “We’ve been fake married about a billion times. I can’t tell you how many calls and texts I’ve got over the last five years from best friends —even from my parents sometimes—they’re like, ‘Did you get married?
Is it real this time? Did you have a baby?’ ”
He also gave insight into what makes the couple click: “I was 18 when I met Miley. We really fell in love quickly and had a really strong connection from the beginning and I think in the back of my head I knew it was in the cards, but we weren’t planning to have a wedding anytime soon. Then just going through something [the loss of their Malibu home in the California forest fires last year] this emotional with someone, it brings you closer and we felt like we’d lost a big part of our lives, so we wanted to make a new part of our lives.
It was something really good coming out of a horrible situation. It was going to happen eventually, but I think this just sped it up a little bit.”
As for little Cyrus-Hemsworths? "Yeah, one day,” he said. “Once we don’t have so many dogs. You couldn’t bring a baby into our house right now. But one day, we’ll know when it’s right. But right now? Not for the time being.”
And how many? “Of kids? Ten, 15, maybe 20,” Hemsworth replied.
