From "I object!" to "I do!" Law & Order: SVU star Stephanie March has just tied the knot. On Friday, September 1, March wed her fiancé Dan Benton, a tech investor, in an intimate ceremony in their New York home with just a handful of family and friends in attendance—and a Star Wars twist!
According to People magazine, the nuptials took place in the couple's home in Katonah, New York, where March wore an unconventional Dolce & Gabbana gown with a blue hydrangea print (for her something-blue) and she paired the dress with her younger sister's earrings (her something-borrowed). The ceremony was later followed by an outdoor lunch.
No word yet if any of March's former SVU costars were attendance, but to make it "a day long remembered," the bride walked down the aisle to the Star Wars theme song, played by her BFF on her grandmother's piano. "Both Stephanie and Dan’s families love Star Wars,” the friend told People.
"I've never seen Stephanie as happy or as beautiful as she was today," added wedding guest Rebecca Perkins. "She and Dan were surrounded by a close-knit group of people who love, support and adore them," she said, explaining how the day was truly a family-centric affair. "Stephanie’s family friend designed the magnificent floral arrangements, I did her makeup, and her best friend played her grandmother’s piano as Stephanie walked down the aisle…It was an absolutely picture-perfect ceremony."
This is March's second marriage, after previously being married to celebrity chef Bobby Flay. In October 2015, March and Benton were introduced to one another by a mutual friend. "They met for cocktails at the West Village bar Orient Express and had dinner afterwards,” explained a friend. “But their first real date was a TED Talk [by educator Sal Khan of the Khan Academy] after which they talked for four hours.”
Benton proposed on July 24—the day after March's 43rd birthday—during a vacation in Greece.
