If you were a fan of the Kardashians before the Kanye West era, you'll likely have a pretty good memory of Kim's ex-husband, basketball player Kris Humphries. The couple only lasted 72 days as husband and wife, and if you watched the Keeping Up With the Kardashians episodes during that time, you probably saw that coming.
Kardashian recently opened up about her previous marriage in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter earlier this week, in which she said momager Kris Jenner was having cold feet about her daughter marrying Humphries as well.
"The night before, my mom pulled me aside, off camera, and was like, 'This isn't it for you. Why don't you go away and I'll handle it?’ ” KimK said.
Kardashian added that she felt pressure from the public to go through with the marriage, or else she believed people would think it was just for attention.
"I felt like, if I pulled out now, everyone's going to think I just did it for the show," she told the publication. "Then afterwards, people were saying, 'You have to stay married for a year,' but I physically couldn't do it. When I made the decision [to divorce], everyone said it was made up for the show. Everyone really wanted to take me down.”
But the 36-year-old television personality said that it wasn't just her family that was looking out for her during this time.
“Even the producers said, 'You don't seem happy,‘ “ Kardashian said. "'You don't have to go through with this.' ”
Even KUWTK executive producer Ryan Seacrest knew Kardashian's marriage was in trouble.
"I remember when Kim called me after the wedding,” he said. "It was just a few days after, and she just didn't feel like it was right. She was very candid and open."
It's been almost five years since her split from Humphries, and the beauty queen and her now-husband West are doing better than ever— it's even been rumored that the two have another baby on the way!
Moral of the story, there are always more fish in the sea (and mother always knows best…).
