Just in time for Mother's Day, Kim Kardashian West is now a mother of four. The reality star took to Twitter on Friday to confirm that her surrogate had given birth to a healthy baby boy.
"He’s here and he’s perfect!" the star tweeted.
Kim has yet to reveal the baby's name or share a picture, but she did give a few details about the newest member of the Kardashian-West clan: "He’s also Chicago’s twin lol I’m sure he will change a lot but now he looks just like her," she penned on social media.
The surrogate for the reality star’s fourth child with husband Kanye West went into labor on Thursday, May 9. Kim’s big sister, Kourtney Kardashian, spilled the beans during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show while surprising mom Kris Jenner with six of her grandchildren, including Mason, Penelope, and Reign, whom she shares with Scott Disick; along with Kim and Kanye's children, North, Saint, and Chicago.
“So, Kim was supposed to be here...so, my mom doesn’t even know this, but Kim’s surrogate went into labor, so she’s at the hospital,” Kourtney, 40, explained.
“No! No! What are we doing sitting here? Come on, Ellen! Fire up the car!” Jenner, 63, responded, asking, “Who’s there with her?”
The women then jokingly urged the audience not to tell anyone and not to tweet about it.
The show later posted a clip from the segment to Instagram, along with the caption, “I surprised @KrisJenner with 6 of her grandchildren. Then I surprised her with one more. Sending love to you, @KimKardashian and Kanye!”
The KKW Beauty founder, 38, prepared for the arrival of her new baby in April 2019 with a “CBD and meditation”-themed baby shower that saw guests, including Kris, Kourtney, Chrissy Teigen, Paris Hilton and others, making body oils and flower arrangements.
They also suggested names for the entrepreneur’s impending arrival, including Rob—after Kim’s late father Robert Kardashian—should it be a boy.
Kim confirmed that she and West, 41, were expecting again in January 2019 during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.
When the host, 50, asked if they were working on another child, she candidly responded, “We are.”
She then confirmed that they had a due date (“It’s sometime soon") and that it was a boy.
“I got drunk at our Christmas Eve party, and I told some people, and I can’t remember who I told, 'cause I never get drunk,” she explained of her decision to reveal her baby’s sex.
The couple used a separate surrogate for their third child, Chicago, choosing to go with an alternative birthing route after Kim experienced a life-threatening condition called placenta accreta during the births of her first two children, North and Saint.
According to the Mayo Clinic, the condition occurs when placenta grows too deeply in the uterine wall.
The makeup mogul explained their decision on her former website following Chicago’s birth in January 2018. “Doctors said that it wasn’t safe for my—or the baby’s—health to carry on my own,” she wrote. “After exploring many options, Kanye and I decided to use a gestational carrier."
Congratulations to the happy couple!
