It's been a big week for Kimye! Just a few days after Mr. and Mrs. West announced that they're expecting their second child — and just two days after Kim threw an ultra-elaborate 38th birthday party for Kanye — the couple is making headlines again. This time with the exciting news that two-year-old North West (aka Nori) is going to be getting a baby brother.
"Kanye loves Nori more than anything, but to make his world complete he wanted a little boy, an heir," a source close to West tells Us Weekly. "He's overjoyed!" And so is his reality star wife. "Kim always wanted two kids," says another source. "A girl and a boy."
But this has been no easy road for the famous pair, who have documented their struggle to conceive baby No. 2 on Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Over the past year, Kim underwent in vitro fertilization, consulted doctors, and even talked to psychic John Edward. "Kim was really down about it," a source says of her inability to get pregnant. "And she was worried."
But this spring, North's mom received the exciting news: "I just got the blood test back and I'm pregnant!" she exclaimed to sister Khloé on a show teaser that aired May 31. The day after that aired, Kim, now in her second trimester, told Us Weekly how excited she is: "I'm so grateful to be pregnant when we didn't even think it was going to happen," she said, adding that she didn't even mind her severe morning sickness. "I can barely get out of bed," she continued. "But it's so worth it. I don't really care."
In Glamour's July issue, Kim opens up about North's impending new sibling as well as her happiness with being a mother. "[Motherhood] really changes you," the pregnant star said. "When I found out I was pregnant [with North], I was going through an awful divorce, Kanye and I had just been dating for seven months — granted, we knew each other for a decade — and I was like, 'I can't do this. It's not the right time.' But then I figured, If I'm in my thirties and I'm not ready, I'll never be ready. So it's been the biggest lesson, and the biggest joy of my life."
