There are some exes that will always, like always, find a way back into your life. (We're looking at you, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth.) And this Kentucky couple is a prime example. Fifty years after getting a divorce, 83-year-old Harold Holland and 78-year-old Lillian Barnes are getting remarried, proving their relationship to be undeniably fated.
According to The Lexington Herald-Leader, these two clear soulmates were first married on Christmas Eve in 1955, had five kids, and split in 1968. Holland said all time he spent at work led to the end of their marriage.
In their time apart, Holland remarried once and Barnes remarried twice. Both their second and third spouses, respectively, died in 2015. Some time after, the two reconnected at a family reunion and by last December, marriage talks were already in the works.
For their second wedding, they will exchange vows on April 14 in Lexington, Kentucky, where Barnes will wear a long lavender and white dress and their grandson Joshua Holland, a minister from New Orleans, will officiate at their local Baptist church.
Even though they took a little break in the middle of the whole 'till-death-do-us-part thing, this couple is ready to get back on track. “We decided we want to walk the last mile together,” Holland said of his two-time fiancée.
And this time around, they know exactly how to make it work. "We’ll go do whatever we want to, whenever we want to do it," he said. "I’ll take her wherever she wants to go.” Most importantly, the husband-to-be says the feelings that were there over half a century ago still remain. “I don’t think we ever lost that love, to tell you the truth.”
If this doesn't make you believe in fate, nothing will.
