Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder are coming back to the big screen—together!
But this is not the duo's first movie they've shared. In the 1992 version of Francis Ford Coppola’s Bram Stoker's Dracula, Reeves played Jonathan Harker and Ryder played his fiancée, Mina. Fourteen years later in 2006, Reeves and Ryder reunited for Richard Linklater’s 2006 film A Scanner Darkly, where the two again played love interests Bob Arctor (Reeves) and Donna Hawthorne (Ryder). Since then, the two actors have formed an onscreen partnership and are now pairing up for a third time in their new movie, Destination Wedding. (And we're freaking out.)
The movie, which has yet to reveal its release date, tells the story of two miserable wedding guests (played by Reeves and Ryder), who bond over being outcasts at the destination wedding they attend, eventually forming a relationship and must decide whether or not to pursue it after the celebration is over.
The comedy, directed by writer Victor Levin (Mad About You), will be produced by Robert Jones of the Fyzz Facility. In addition, Sunshine Pictures’ Gail Lyon will also work in the production of the film, along with Two Camel Films’ Elizabeth Dell.
"When comedy is seated in character and truth it’s both funny and moving, and on that basis Vic’s screenplay is one of the best I’ve read in a long time," Jones told The Hollywood Reporter. "Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves are wonderfully skillful actors and their chemistry onscreen truly brings these irascible characters to life. Their unswerving commitment to the project is a testament to both material and director," he said.
This isn't Ryder's only upcoming feature; season two of Netflix's '80's-inspired thriller show Stranger Things will be released on October 27th, starring Ryder as Joyce Byers.
