Perry recently revealed how she and her fiancé met—and, naturally, it involves In-N-Out Burger.
“In-N-Out plays a big role in my life,” she said on Monday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. “We bonded over an In-N-Out burger about three years [ago] at the Golden Globes. He stole one off of my table…he took it and I was like, ‘Wait! Who—oh, you’re so hot. Fine, take it.’”
She continued, “And then I saw him at a party and I was like, ‘How are those onions resting on your molars?’ He’s like, ‘I like you.’ And then, you know, cut to,” Perry said, throwing her ring finger in the air and showing off her flower-shaped engagement ring.
There you have it folks. If you’re still single, eating a few more Double-Doubles might be the key to finding love.
Perry went on to dish on how they got from sharing a burger to actually being engaged, revealing exactly how Bloom proposed.
“It was very sweet,” Perry said. “It was Valentine’s Day…we went to dinner and I thought we were going to go see some art after dinner but we pulled up to a helicopter.”
“Very Bachelor,” Kimmel joked.
“Yeah I’m glad I don’t have to go on that show now,” Perry said. “It was really sweet. He asked me to marry him in a helicopter.”
Like all good proposals, though, this one wasn’t without a little snafu. “The funny part is we had champagne in the helicopter and the [ring] box was in his pocket and he had written down everything he wanted to say on a note to divert,” Perry said.
The “Dark Horse” singer tried to keep her focus on the note but could hear that something wasn’t quite right over by Bloom. “So I’m reading [the note] but I’m hearing the champagne is broken and the bottle’s everywhere … he’s pulling out this box that’s too big for his coat pocket, rips his coat pocket and his elbow goes into the champagne.”
Despite the mess, things still ended on a high note.
“We landed on a rooftop and my whole family was there, and all my friends,” Perry recalled. “He did so well.”
Even though the couple is just a few weeks into their engagement, they are already living the sort-of-married life. Perry confirmed that she and Bloom already live together, which she said has already led to their first fight.
“So you’ve already thrown all his stuff away,” Kimmel asked the American Idol judge.
To everyone’s surprise, she replied, “Wait, did you really know about that?”
Perry said that her tidying up may have started a fight in their otherwise happy home. “He’s had a toiletry bag for about 10 years that's like falling apart that has like toothpaste growing other families inside it, and I got him a toiletry bag as one of his gifts for Christmas,” Perry said. “He was going away to shoot his new show that’s coming out on Amazon called Carnival Row, and it was funny, I said, ‘The moment you leave, this toiletry bag that’s underneath the sink that you have feelings about, is going straight in the trash,’ and it went straight in the trash and he didn’t believe me. He got home, he was very upset. I had like a full time-out."
Clearly the two are 100 percent back on.
