After a surprise evening surrounded by shirtless firemen and "bride to be" balloons, Katherine McPhee is one step closer to walking down the aisle.
The actress came home from a performance of Waitress on Saturday to find that her friends had setup an entire Bachelorette party to celebrate her upcoming wedding to music producer David Wallace. Based on the Instagram stories, there were costumes. strippers, and a massive dance party with a soundtrack featuring Britney Spears and Whitney Houston. "Casually walked off stage to this," McPhee captioned a photo on her Instagram story of herself wearing a veil and sash. sipping from a solo cup. "Not your average meet and greet," she joked on another video of herself getting a lap dance from a man in uniform. The event even had its own hashtag: #katchelorette, and at one point the former American Idol contestant treated her guests to an impromptu song and dance performance.
McPhee and Foster first met while he was mentoring artists on American Idol in 2006, but didn't begin dating until much later—their first public appearance together was at the Met Gala in May, 2018. Rumors of their engagement began swirling last summer, and McPhee confirmed the news when she shared a photograph of her gorgeous Emerald cut diamond ring to Instagram in July. "My ring was the last thing I showed my dad before he passed and makes me smile when I look at this as a reminder of our last conversation," she wrote.. And now I’m ready to share with all of you what has been my sunshine amongst this painful loss."
According to People, Foster proposed while the pair were traveling in Italy. "“He did it at the top of this mountain in Anacapri," she said at the time. "Totally dark, only stars. Thankfully he didn’t push me off the cliff. He said it was one or the other. And in the end he spared me." Now that McPhee has checked wedding dress shopping and her bachelorette party off of her bridal to-do list, the last thing to do is get to the ceremony.
