It's been nearly a year since Kate Upton and Justin Verlander announced their engagement (when Upton showed up to the 2016 Met Gala with a massive diamond sparkler on that finger). And now, the supermodel is finally dishing on their wedding plans. There's not much that is concrete yet — but what is set in stone might not make Verlander too happy.
The 24-year-old bride-to-be recently revealed to Martha Stewart Weddings that her one non-negotiable for the big day is lots and lots of flowers. "I have favorites, but I don't know what I'll have for the wedding day yet," she said. "I just know I want a lot of flowers. And I know I want the petals already down by the time my niece, who will be my flower girl, walks down the aisle."
And while that might not seem like that crazy of a request — lots of brides love flowers — Upton's wedding day wish will most likely leave her fiancé, who is a pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, not feeling so hot. "Justin has terrible allergies!" she revealed. "He'll have to take an allergy pill."
Upton's flower dreams can be added to her list of wedding day must-haves, which she shared on Instagram last month. So far, their plans include: Fun, party, tequila, and food. (In other words, all of the essentials for a great time.) Bringing that vision to life is planner Lisa Vorce (who was responsible for Chrissy Teigen and John Legend's nuptials), so the day is all but guaranteed to be stunning.
Upton's dresses (yes, plural) also promise to be gorgeous. "I like it all, so maybe [I'll have] multiple dresses," she previously revealed. "Maybe a nice long sleeve, and then also the big tulle one. I think that I always like to add a little flair of sexuality to any outfit I'm wearing."
Upton and Verlander have been dating since 2012 and engaged since 2016. Verlander proposed with a round-cut solitaire sparkler by jeweler Anita Ko, who designed a custom pavé setting for the boulder-sized ring. If the engagement ring is any indication, this couple's big day will be both impressive and beautiful.
