Kate Middleton recently wore a lace look at the Royal Ascot Races that was a total throwback to the iconic Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding dress she wore on her big day at Westminster Abbey in 2011. The dress she sported at the famed track in Berkshire, England, similarly had sleeves, a high collar, feminine floral details, and the fit and flare silhouette that’s become a consistent go-to for Middleton. The duchess complemented the look with a matching fascinator—making for a picture perfect scene in the royal carriage on Tuesday.
That is, until Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, who’s Prince Edward’s wife and Prince William’s aunt, lost her footing and practically fell on top of a seated Kate Middleton. The Duchess was able to break Sophie’s fall by extending her arms, and then once it became clear that no one had been harmed, the entire family burst out laughing, making for a hilarious “royals, they're just like us moment.”
The entire scene—minus the tumble—has us dreaming of summer wedding dressing looks. Kate’s ensemble could be worn to everything from a bridal party luncheon to a late night after-party. A shorter version of the dress she’s wearing is currently available, but here, we also show you how to get her look for less.
