During the final stop of Kate Middleton and Prince William's whirlwind royal tour of Scandinavia, the duo shared something of a tense moment. Though no punches were thrown, an intense fight did break out—a snowball fight, that is. On Friday, the couple was visiting the Holmenkollen Ski Jump in Oslo, Norway, to watch ski jumpers, their last appearance of the four-day tour, when Kate seemed to get distracted by the winter wonderland around her. Clearly inspired by her surroundings, the Duchess of Cambridge gave what can only be called an impromptu master class in the fine art of wintertime flirting.
In a video of the interaction, per Marie Claire, Will and Kate are watching ski jumpers from a snow-covered balcony on the hill's observation deck with their Norwegian hosts. As members of the national government look the other way, the mischievous mom-to-be gathers up a good amount of snow, packs it into a snowball, and readies it for throwing. Though she's hidden behind one of her hosts, you can see the top of Kate's pom-pom-topped hat bobbing up and down as she nods threateningly at her husband, who shakes his head and wags his finger at her to no avail. Like an expert troublemaker, Kate throws the snowball at Will—alas, it's too powdery and explodes midair before doing any real damage to the prince—then immediately turns back to the others, nodding along to their ski jump commentary with a wide-eyed look of innocence and duchess-like composure. Your fave could never.
Perhaps she was getting her revenge after Will beat her at a hockey shootout in Sweden earlier this week?
Impromptu snowball fights have become something of Kate's specialty. Back in March 2016, the royal couple went on a low-key family ski trip to the French Alps. After they returned to the U.K., they released several photos from the vacation, and while most people were distracted by Prince George and Princess Charlotte in their tiny and extremely cute snowsuits, Kate Middleton scholars recognized that the actual most adorable photos were those that showed a cackling Kate pelting her husband with snowballs at close range until he forced the rest of her ammo out of her hand, clearly leaving Kate with some unfinished business that still had to be taken care of almost two years later.
