Kate Middleton and Prince William may be members of the royal family, but they still know how to let loose at a party!
The couple appeared to be having a blast at the second garden party of the year hosted by Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, May 22, where they were captured showing off a bit of PDA by partygoer Lucy Stafford.
In the photo, which is part of a larger gallery Stafford posted on Instagram, William, who was dressed to the nines in a long suit jacket, a top hat and a cane umbrella, can be seen pulling his wife along. Middleton, meanwhile, who attended the festivities in a blush pink double-breasted Alexander McQueen frock with a pleated skirt and a matching fascinator, smiles lovingly at her spouse’s antics.
While it’s unclear exactly what was happening during their sweet moment, William appears ready to whisk his bride away on a grand adventure, or, as People pointed out, bust into a musical number à la Mary Poppins.
“What an incredible day!” Stafford captioned her photos. “So honored to have been invited to a garden party at Buckingham Palace. We had the most delicious afternoon tea in the gardens and even finished the day by meeting the Queen (who told us about how a cricket ball almost killed her in 1994) and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Can’t quite believe it all really happened!”
Stafford spoke to People about the event, which she said the royal family made the rounds at.:“[They] were so incredibly kind," she told the magazine. "Such a lovely day."
The lucky teen even got the chance to chat with Queen Elizabeth II, who told her about a rogue cricket ball that almost took her out in 1994. “Luckily her bodyguard caught it, or she said she would have been dead!”
She also spoke to Kate about two of her and William’s children, Prince George, 5, and Princess Charlotte (or, as William calls her, "Mignonette"), 4, whom she had seen at a previous event.
Just last week, Kate was making introductions of another kind as she and William traveled to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s home at Frogmore Cottage to meet their nephew, baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
The twosome, who tied the knot in 2011 and welcomed their third child in April 2018, gushed over the baby's birth to reporters shortly after his May 6 birth. "[We're] absolutely thrilled, absolutely thrilled," William told reporters, adding. "I'm very pleased to welcome my own brother to the sleep deprivation society that is parenting!"
Kate was equally enthusiastic "It's such a special time, and with Louis and Charlotte just having had their birthdays, it's such a great time of the year to have a baby," she said. "Spring is in the air and everything, so it's pretty great."
