Fantastic Four actors Kate Mara and Jamie Bell have been engaged for nearly six months, and while the duo has yet to reveal a wedding date, they are in the throes of planning their superhero union. And taking the charge when it comes to the nitty-gritty details of their big day is actually Bell — and not Mara, the actress recently revealed.
In an interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show on Wednesday (June 7), Mara confirmed that she and her fiancé are in the midst of arranging their nuptials. But, so far, the entire process is not one that she particularly enjoys.
"I don't love planning," she told Fallon. "I mean, I like planning in my life in general, but wedding planning — I'm just not that interested. The little, you know, like what kind of spoon do you want on the table? I'm just so uninterested."
On the flip side, Bell is "very interested," Mara said, in the details of their day, and he has been acting as the primary planner.
"I will say 'I don't care,' and he will immediately give a response of exactly the color and the shape," Mara said. "He's the bride."
This role reversal is atypical — the planning responsibilities usually fall on the bride's shoulders — but refreshing, to say the least. Mara and Bell ditching antiquated gender ideas should be a lesson for all couples to at least split the duties evenly.
However, there is one aspect of the big day that Mara isn't relinquishing control of: her wedding dress. The actress is reportedly working with her stylist, Johnny Wujek, on the dress, and the duo has already selected the designer. They are remaining tight-lipped on any details, except for one: It won't be bohemian at all. As for everything else, it seems the Thing — er, Bell — is in charge.
