Bachelorette alum Kaitlyn Bristowe is getting real about her baby plans. In an interview on Good Morning America, alongside fiancé Shawn Booth, she opened up and defended her decision to freeze her eggs. The former reality star revealed she would begin the process via Twitter last week with the help of Bachelor alum Whitney Bischoff, who's a fertility nurse.
"I'm freezing my eggs. And giving them to Whitney and Ova to babysit," Bristowe announced on Twitter. "I'm taking control of my future! As a woman there's always pressure to have babies, and this puts my mind at ease for when I'm ready. This is kind of a backup plan for us and for us to feel comfortable."
"I think a lot of women feel pressure to have kids, especially when you get engaged. And for me, I'm like, I don't want that pressure on myself," Bristowe told GMA during her interview. "This is kind of a backup plan for us and for us to feel comfortable. It's kind of like insurance."
She continued to say her husband-to-be has been nothing but supportive through the process. "I think Shawn's role in this was, I mean, it was crucial for me," Bristowe continued. "I don't know what I would have done without you."
Booth shared a photo of Bristowe post-procedure to share how proud he was of her bravery. "Always impressed by her strength & courage, but even more so after these past few weeks!" he captioned. "Very proud of her for taking control of our future and continuing to empower others! #ovaeggfreezing (and it doesn't hurt when you have the best nurse & friend out there [Whitney]!!)"
The couple have yet to set a wedding date, but Bristowe insisted the decision to freeze her eggs was an investment for their future, as they hope to have a big family. "We always say we want to have probably five," Booth confessed. "But we'll talk after we have one."
