Lounging on the beach, spending alone time with your new hubby, fabulous dinners, and days of relaxation are typical honeymoon activities. Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston are anything but typical. After their surprise nuptials the two rounded up their closest friends for a honeymoon trip to Bora Bora. The trip was pretty uneventful except for the small part where, you know, Theroux almost died.
Yes you read that right; the newlywed was expecting a fun scuba diving experience but instead had a terrifying brush with death. The Leftovers' actor told the audience on Live with Kelly and Michael that he noticed his oxygen tank was basically on red after the group had dove far below the surface. The instructor told Theroux to just keep swimming, which is what the actor did. "I'm trying to enjoy the manta rays and the this and that but now I'm looking back, I keep looking down and thinking 'oh my god it's really deep in the red,'" Theroux told the audience. Yikes! After a few more moments of panic, the instructor hooked Theroux up to his emergency respirator.
Although Theroux survived his scuba experience he was quick to tell host Kelly Ripa that it was his last brush with diving for a while, probably a safe choice for the newlywed. We're not going to lie, we're feeling a little bit less bitter that we didn't get an invite to Theroux and Aniston's group honeymoon after hearing about that scary scuba experience.
The a-list actors made it official in August after nearly three years of being engaged. The couple hosted their surprise nuptials at their house in Bel Air, California as a backyard affair. Guests under the impression they were showing up to Theroux's birthday party. "There were people there who were just in jeans," Theroux said with a laugh when he later told Ellen DeGeneres about the challenges of planning a secret wedding. "We [were] gonna tell some people this and some people that... So then afterwards we kind of realized that was a terrible plan."
Despite guests arriving decked out in a range of attire nothing could spoil the good time. With Sia preforming and Howard Stern giving a speech how could it not be?! According to People the party didn't stop until 3 a.m. when the last guest standing, maid of honor and best Friend, Courteney Cox decided to call it a night.
