Journalist Noor Tagouri's Stunning Miami Wedding

This beach party was equal parts tropical and elegant

When Noor Tagouri first met Adam Khafif, neither was expecting to fall in love. Adam, who founded Lisn Up Clothing (a line designed to raise social awareness and benefit charities) back in high school, was selling his shirts at an event, and Noor just happened to be a fan—and was wearing one of Adam’s designs at the time. The pair struck up a friendship, and a few years later, Adam contacted Noor to collaborate with him on the brand. #TheNoorEffect—a line of women’s clothing that combats sex trafficking—was born, and so was the couple’s relationship.

After getting engaged in November of 2016, Noor and Adam set their sights on a May 20, 2017 date, which meant they didn’t have much time to get the ball rolling. Thankfully, their close friend is the general manager at the Palms Hotel in Miami and they were able to secure a date for May. They set out with a natural, neutral vision in mind (a far cry from Miami’s sleek lines and flashing lights) and invited 140 guests down for a elevated beach party. Keep reading to see this couple’s style, the surprise cultural touches, and the photos by the Hendricks.

With a view like this, it’s no surprise that Noor and Adam decided to have their ceremony on the sand. And since the hotel's property was already full of color, the couple kept to a strict neutral color palette in their attire, flowers, and decor details.

Noor’s custom dress hanger was engraved with the couple’s nickname and wedding hashtag, “Adoor” (a combination of Adam and Noor).

The bride's wore a breathtaking, long-sleeve gown by Pronovias. “When you put on your dress, you’ll just know!” she says of her crepe A-line gown with beaded floral motifs and an elegant train. She added a beautiful headpiece and a flowing floral-edged veil to accentuate her hijab.

Noor kept to the soft color scheme by carrying a bouquet of cream and blush garden roses, ranunculus, and peonies, accented with olive branches and dusty miller.

Noor’s father walked her down the aisle to the ceremony on the sand, where she and Adam took a seat and exchanged rings. “We also cracked a few jokes!” she laughs.

Back at the hotel, guests gathered beneath arches of bougainvillea as they snacked on grilled lamb kufta and tandoori chicken.

Leather luggage tags doubled as both favors and escort cards, as the couple invited guests to use them on their next adventure.

“Our reception was a dream!” says Noor of the market lights and round tables topped with neutral linens. “The weather was perfect, and everyone we love was there.” Centerpieces included lanterns and clusters of peonies, roses, and succulents. For dinner, guests dined on seared sirloin and salmon with coconut basmati rice and goat cheese mashed potatoes, and sipped on virgin strawberry mojitos and Arnold Palmers.

Bride and groom tradition

From the speeches to the dance-off to the sparkler send-off, the entire evening was magical.

As a surprise, Noor and Adam made their grand entrance on Moroccan amariyas, or wedding chairs. “We’d spent the summer before the wedding together in Morocco, and loved this cultural tradition,” the bride explains.

“From the speeches to the dance-off to the sparkler send-off, the entire evening was magical,” says Noor. Her best advice? “Get a planner! It was really a team effort, and we couldn’t have pulled it off without our planner’s help.”
