Now that Joe Biden has vacated the White House, might we make a suggestion for a new full-time gig? Wedding officiant! The former vice president just officiated his second wedding this weekend, making him an old pro at this whole “Do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband,” thing. The most recent nuptials Biden exercised his officiating expertise at were that of a D.N.C. staffer and his brand new husband. Oh, and actress Melanie Griffith was there. Because of course she was.
PEOPLE magazine reports that Joe Biden officiated the “I dos” of Henry Munoz, the Finance Chair of the Democratic National Committee, and his love, Kyle Ferrari on Saturday, May 27. And, oddly enough, celebrity wedding guest Melanie Griffith was there to share a sweet snapshot of the romantic affair. “My dearest friends Henry Munoz and Kyle Ferrari were married today by VP Joe Biden,” the Working Girl actress captioned the photo of Biden pronouncing her two friends husband and husband. “Wishing them everlasting love and a joyous life journey!!!”
Biden definitely has officiating down pat. The first wedding the former V.P. presided over was that of two White House staffers: Brian Mosteller, the Oval Office operations director for former president Barack Obama, and Joe Mahshie, a trip coordinator for former first lady Michelle Obama.
In August of last year, Biden wed the pair at the the Naval Observatory (a.k.a. his very own home!) after receiving temporary certification from the District of Columbia in order to officiate the intimate wedding ceremony.
"Proud to marry Brian and Joe at my house," Biden captioned a black-and-white snapshot of himself marrying the pair of grooms. "Couldn't be happier, two longtime White House staffers, two great guys." The vice president's wife, Dr. Jill Biden, later retweeted the adorbs photo, declaring "Love is love!"
It is indeed!
