According to People, the Counting On stars learned that they are having a daughter during a fun, family-filled gender reveal party in Laredo, Texas. The future parents created an obstacle course for their family and friends to partake in to reveal the baby's gender. The couple split the family into pink and blue teams, and had the groups down a pint of ice cream before running the relay race. The winning team had the honor of flipping a switch to a neon "Baby" sign, which was illuminated in bright pink for the reveal. The couple followed the announcement by spraying their guests with pink silly string. Sounds...fun?
The parents-to-be spoke to the magazine about the news, saying, “We are so happy to announce that we are having a little baby girl! We could not be more excited and are eagerly anticipating meeting our little lady this summer. We especially love thinking forward and realizing that she will have excellent role models in both of her grandmothers, who cannot wait to shower her with love.”
But the fun didn't stop there. Shortly after learning the baby's gender, the mom-to-be was treated to another celebration—this time, a baby shower. The couple's friends, Margarita and Juan Manuel Johnson, took Jinger out to shop for baby clothes while other family members arranged for the surprise. Jinger and Jeremy later showed up to a friend's house and were shocked to find a beautiful baby shower, complete with a Mexican food truck and polenta cart. (Thankfully, though, there were no obstacles courses at this party.)
“The shower was an amazing time of celebrating our new arrival with loved ones,” the couple said. “Our friends, Juan and Margarita, were so generous to organize and host the shower and we were overwhelmed by the kindness and thoughtful generosity of everyone.”
The couple, who have been married since November 2016, first announced that they were expecting in early January, when they revealed that Baby Vuolo is due sometime in July 2018.
